Michele Kaye at Le Club03.01.2017

With its stylish French décor, Le Club is Hanoi classiest house of jazz and the perfect venue for music lovers who are living in or visiting Hanoi. This January, we warmly welcome Michele Kaye, a glamorous lady with a distinctive voice, perfect intonation, and ineffable swing, to our venue Le Club.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Michele comes from a musical family and she naturally turned to singing at a very early age. Sultry and alluring, Michele’s voice never ceases to captivate her audience. She flawlessly translates the passion of the song, taking the listener on an emotional journey. Her melodies are memorable, as is her stage presence and her ability to connect with her audience. Michele proves herself as a singer and musician by using her extensive vocal capabilities and incredible ear for phrasing and harmony to put her own stamp on every song.

Michele is a graduate of Sheridan College’s theatre program and studies music part time at York University. In 2006, Michele released her debut EP entitled Angora under the name Mischa Kaye. The album was nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award in 2007 in the category of “Best Pop.” She also toured to Japan with the EP, where she collaborated with pop singer Monica Wu. Michele began singing with the Toronto-based swing band The Maisies in 2008, as well as with her own jazz group, The Elk Island Quartet.

For several years Michele performed with her quartet aboard cruise ships and then began gigging in luxury hotels internationally. She has performed in Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei, Beijing, New Delhi, Mumbai, and within Canada. When not touring internationally, Michele sings back-up vocals in several bands in Toronto, and continues to compose original music. She released her second original music EP, entitled “Cloud Machine,” in the summer of 2016. As an actor, Michèle has appeared in film, TV and commercials as well as in theatre and on cruise ships. Along with jazz, Michele is very interested in folk music, and music and politics. She lives and travels with the loves of her life — her husband, Benjamin, and their delightful daughter, Yatri.

Visit Le Club to experience Michele’s live jazz performance every night from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:45 pm onwards.
